This old Florence Nightingale ten pound note, numbered JR19 161318 is signed by the chief cashier at the time; George Gill

George Malcolm Gill worked as the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England from 1988 to his retirement in 1991.

The reverse of this old ten pound note also shows a scene depicting Florence Nightingale with her lamp and a team of nurses tending to soldiers injured during the Crimean war

The dates 1820 to 1910 indicated the years of her life, more accurately being 12th May 1820 to 13th August 1910

This D Series type of note was issued on 20 February 1975 and withdrawn from circulation on 20 May 1994.
